This week for Friend Friday we are discussing the “Thinsporation” trend that has taken over sites like Tumblr and some boards on Pinterest. Basically, they are posts and pins of extremely skinny girls. I’m sure guys have their own form, but that can be discussed separately. Sometimes these girls are also very muscular too, but mostly the focus is that they are skinny. I personally have a thin, athletic build, however, I find these pictures with captions that shout out being thin to the extreme is the goal as annoying. In more ways than one too! First off, there is an insane amount of this type of inspirational posts/pins. Secondly, they put an unhealthy focus on one ,more often than it is, unattainable body type. 20120419-130223.jpg

Personally, my inspirational pins focus on keeping me motivated to stay healthy and make proper choices for me. Not something that I want to attain by being unreasonable with my exercise, diet, and attitude.

I could go on and on about the Thinspo pins, but what would be the real point in that?!? Honestly, I just want to see this type of thing be banned across the board (no pun intended). I will advocate for health and fitness within reason and encourage others with these goals too. After all, I have a little girl looking up to me, and I want her to know I am happy with my body. I will do what it takes to keep it healthy, because, I want to be around to see her grow up and appreciate her body in the same way I do.

This week Katy, of ModlyChic, and the rest of the Friend Friday group are discussing fitness and our goals. I gave you the first goals I set up for postpartum fitness. Now, Nate and I have a YMCA membership and it has been a lifesaver. Not only is it a great place to workout, it also makes working out so much easier. With the family membership I get two free hours of child care per child. They have great teachers, and Lyla loves going to her “class”. This makes it simple to go to the gym first thing in the morning. Before Jazz’s nap time and the craziness of two kids takes over.

Fitness One app, iPhone app, apps, fitness, workout routine

As for my fitness goals, one is to run for 30 minutes straight. My second is to finish an entire three month workout routine schedule from my Fitness One app. Ultimately, my goal is to do another three month workout plan after completing my current routine. However, to make goals work you need to make them attainable, so three months at a time is as far out as I want to go.

I have a few dance goals I want to make too. Like being able to do a few jumps and leaps that I haven’t been able to successfully do since giving birth six months ago. To achieve this goal I will have to work on increasing my leg strength and flexibility. The Fitness one workouts and daily stretching should help that.

What are your fitness goals? Do you have a favorite workout routine you follow?

This week the bloggers participating in Katy’s, of ModlyChicFriend Friday are talking about the seeming phenomenon of one time wear clothing. Read my answers below then jump to ModlyChic for everybody else’s answers.

owl necklace
1. Are you a one-time wearer?
No way! I think everything in my closet has been worn multiple times. some of the items, being second hand, have even had multiple wearers.x
2. Do you feel the need to purchase something new for an evening out or a
special event?

Not necessarily, if it is a special event I may purchase something new, but that is if I don’t already have something appropriate to wear that I think fits the bill for the event. I do think certain events require something special, so I may opt to purchase some new shoes or accessories to update something I already own. Then, I satisfy the want for something new while not breaking the bank either.
3. Re-mixing is something a lot of bloggers are proud of being able to
accomplish – are you a re-mixing pro or do you shy away from posting items
frequently? Why?

I have to answer yes to both questions. I have no problem re-mixing and finding new ways to wear the same old things. However, I don’t like to post outfits that are eerily similar or the same piece too many times in a row.

spotted moth scarf, scarf, scarves, spotted moth
4. Do you have a clothing budget or are you an impulse buyer?
Again, I will answer yes and no to both of these questions. I do not have a specific “clothing budget” yet, I consider myself to be a budget friendly style blogger. That being said, if I see something I really want, and I can afford it I’m going to get it!

yellow and white purse, Target purse, stripes
5. Do you find yourself bored when reading a blog in which clothing items
are often remixed and appear frequently?

I don’t think I pay close enough attention to get bored by other fashion bloggers. I can read a personal style blog everyday while they are re-mixing the same jacket or skirt for a week straight. One of those days I am going to be inspired by how they did something different than I would have thought of! How can re-mixing be boring? After all, don’t they have regular features in magazines like Lucky and In Style that feature different ways to re-mix five different pieces with your current wardrobe for a month of new looks?

This week Katy and the members of FBFF are talking tech tools. Read my answers below, and click over to ModlyChic to see what everybody else, macbook, laptop, computer

1. What are the tools you use to blog?

No Guilt Fashion is self-hosted through a friend of mine’s company, Nelsen Technologies. Aaron was a great tool when I made the switch from Blogger to

As for physical tools I use while blogging. I use a used MacBook that I purchased from Aaron too. I forgot to mention he also is a self-described career geek and apple enthusiast. He sells new and used Apple products too. I got a killer deal on my laptop from him.

My iPhone, Cannon T2i, also play a large roll in my blogging devices. Followed by photoshop and the instagram app.

Those are the items I use to produce blog posts, but I use tools like Facebook, Twitter, Stumble Upon, and Pinterest to promote my blog and interact with readers.

2. What technology item is on your wish-list?

I don’t really have any items on my wish-list, but I’m sure if you asked my husband he could come with a few hundred dollars worth of wants and wishes.

3. Through the barrage of posts, tweets, pics, poses, messages, etc…
how do you avoid becoming a slave to the constant infiltration of

Honestly, I have to say that what keeps me from being a slave to catching up on EVERY NEW ENTRY is my kids and my job. Those things come first, and when and if I have time I catch up with the other stuff.

I’m back at it ladies and gentlemen. My first of the now monthly Friend Friday questions. Remember you can chime in and catch everyone else’s answers at ModlyChic.

1. With Fashion week just around the corner, we are all beginning to
focus on the upcoming trends for fall. But what about the trends
hitting stores now? What are you coveting?

neon sweater, fashion trends

I am looking to pick up a few more neon pieces to style this spring. I really like the look of pairing a neon statement piece with neutrals and pastels.
2. How do you incorporate new trends into your wardrobe?

Since, I’m all about wearing what I already have. I like to first figure out if I can transform or remix a piece I already own to fit a new trend I want to try out. If nothing in my closet will work and I really want to wear a trend I’ll find something new, but wear it with my current wardrobe.
3. What trend are you seeing and not loving?

Ummm…I can’t think of any off the top of my head. What about you? What are you not loving for this coming season.
4. Do you feel the pressure to constantly update your closet with the
latest trends?

Heck no! I don’t have anything eloquent to say about this, but I simply do not feel pressed to be on trend. If I like it I’ll buy it, but if I don’t I won’t give it a second thought. Even if I like a trend that does not mean I’ll buy it.
5. Where do you find inspiration that takes the trend and makes it
accessible to you and your personal taste?

My fellow fashion bloggers. Check out my blog roll or my style board on Pinterest and you will see how I stay inspired.
