A Little Bit Rock N Roll

shirt-boyfriend-jeans-yellow-flats Three fourths of this outfit is straight out of Nate’s closet. Can you guess what part is mine? Ok, it is a bit of a dead giveaway. I can’t picture Nate squeezing his foot into my Steve Madden flats. However, yellow is a nice color on him. Getting dressed for the day comfort was my goal. Nate’s clothes fit the bill perfectly, and my favorite flats topped (or bottomed in this case) everything off just right.

On a side note…Eeek! Look at those roots. My red hair has started to come in as a blonder version closer to my 8 year old self. Pregnancy, does some strange things to your looks.

Two Faced

Fifty degrees one day, and the very next day it is colder than crazy. This outfit is obviously from the fifty degree day. Bare legs in December people. Can you believe that?!?! Anybody else stumped by this weather? 

Because, of this wacky weather you get two looks today. The first look, is what I wore to work. The Second, is what I wore to a Christmas party. I honestly wasn’t sure if I would be attending the party, or if the childcare I had arranged would fall through. I needed to be prepared to watch kiddos if it would turn to that, so I thought jeans would be the best option.Thankfully, the workers made it and Nate and I had a wonderful meal and a fun evening.

 This is me being super excited that I think I found a solution to my poorly lit room. I still need to get a new sheet, as this one has been a paint drop cloth.
I also gave what the blogger of Inside Jewelscapes Handmade Jewelry dubbed, “the Small Town Capri” a shot. I think it turned out alright. It looked better when I first put it on, but by 11 when I took the pictures I had just taken a turn for the worst overall.

These are not your mom’s jeans

They say you should shop around, find one or two pairs of great fitting jeans, and stick with that. It works for you. Why switch it up? I disagree. I do think it is important to shop around, and take time to find great fitting jeans. However do not (I REPEAT DO NOT) stick your self with only one type of jeans. Also, don’t label yourself. Just because you are a mom doesn’t mean you have to wear mom jeans.

I honestly don’t even remember my mom wearing mom jeans. In fact, she recently purchased her first pair of black skinny jeans. I’m proud to say she looks pretty darn good in them too. I hope those genes run in the family.
Speaking of skinny jeans. You don’t have to be skinny to wear them either. Just take the time to find a pair with a slightly looser cut. I have a pair of
Gap Real Straight jeans that I love. They aren’t too wide or skinny just a perfect mixture.
Remember these two things about skinny jeans. There is a difference between skinny jeans and jeggings(a cross between leggings and jeans). Secondly, they just don’t look good on guys. I prefer to see a guy in a nice boot cut pair of jeans any day.
While your shopping for that perfect pair of boot cut jeans for the man in your life don’t be afraid to take a cue, and buy yourself a pair of relaxed fit boyfriend jeans. They look great cuffed, or straight with the right pair of shoes.
There is still a time and a place for flare jeans too. I prefer them in a dark wash with heels mostly.
Honorable mention: trouser jeans
I don’t happen to own a pair of wide leg trouser jeans, but they can be a great option for casual Fridays.

Weekend Wear

The reason behind the extra pictures is I actually made it out of the house to take pictures, and they turned out pretty good. I had  hardly any editing to do, and so many of them turned out really nice. Again, this is all in comparison to what I normally have to post. I could choose just a few.
Nate and I took the dogs for a walk after picking up breakfast and coffee. I brought my camera along thinking maybe I would find a place decent enough looking to take my outfit pictures. I was about to loose hope when we pasted a podiatrist’s office. They had a nice rock exterior, and were closed for the weekend. That meant all I had to deal with for the embarrassment factor was the light traffic in the neighborhood across the parking lot. The pictures turned out so nice I may have to keep trying to find interesting places for photo shoots. I know you must as bored of my house as I am, but with a two year old that is as good as it gets sometimes.

9 to 5 o’clock somewhere

Today’s post is going to show a transition from my work clothes, to going out with the girls for a casual dinner with minimal changes. Just swap the skirt for jeans, opt for wedges over pumps, and I will probably be a little overdressed. I don’t mind though that’s just me. I’m so happy to be hanging out tonight…I can taste the Italian food already mmmmm. Are you doing anything fun tonight?

This skirt is admittedly not my favorite skirt, but I needed something nicer than jeans to wear to work. When I tuck things shirts in to it, or they are shorter the skirt looks pretty plain. I know it is a plain khaki skirt, but I look kind of like a soccer mom when I don’t wear a longer shirt. No offense to soccer moms I know some pretty cool moms, but I also know or have seen a few that just have that look about them. You know what look I’m talking about?

For girl’s night I decided to go with a casual pair of jeans with the same top I wore to work, and throw on a pair of wedges to dress it up a bit. I really love wedges. I can walk with the best of them in four inch stilettos. However, give me a pair of wedges and I can pile on the shopping bags and still run after my daughter when she spies the play area at the mall and darts off. Who am I kidding? I’ve done that in stilettos too. I just get odd stares when I do.
