eShakti contacted me a few weeks back to ask if I would review their service and a provided product. I’ve been interested in the idea of custom clothing for awhile now. Since, you can choose so many aspects of how there great designs fit I had to say yes.eShakti review, dress

I had a hard time picking out what piece of clothing I wanted to try. It wasn’t because I couldn’t find anything I liked. It was because, I could picture myself wearing so many of the dresses and skirts. To help myself figure out what I wanted I thought about what items in my closet am I limited in when I wear them due to the lack of nursing practicalities. I decided a dress was what I would look for. It had to have either a button front or a deep neckline. The dress I decided on already had a cross front neckline, so I just specified that I wanted a deep v-neck. It worked out perfectly, because, I was able to wear it and nurse without any hassle. I also decided on a slightly longer hemline then I would have typically gone with, so I wouldn’t have to worry about chasing around a three year old at a wedding reception.

All in all, I am very happy with both my dress and the service I received. I won’t be afraid to shop eShakti in the future for any customized pieces I may need. They are absolutely perfect for special occasions.dress, tights, boots, eshakti dress,

The Scoop

Dress-c/o eShakti, Tights-Target, Boots-Charlotte Russe, Necklace-Charlotte Russe,

I was a little disappointed by Kohl’s. However, it did make it easier to not buy anything when most items were either not my size, or really not my cup of tea. I wasn’t impressed by the designer brands for Kohl’s. Most of it looked pretty cheap. Here are a few items I tried on by the regular lines carried by Kohl’s. I was much happier there.

AB Studio Leopard Sheath Dress

This dress caught my eye when I was looking for something to sport the animal print trend for fall. It was very work appropriate. The small was a little big on me, but if I wore a cardigan and belted the whole thing it would work. I really like the blue coloring to the print.

Apt. 9® Cheetah Embellished Tunic
They were displaying this tunic with a pair of leggings that were not quite opaque enough for my taste. I felt more comfortable pairing it with my jeans. Being it polyester it had a nice feel to it, but I could do without the detailing at the top. I would prefer wearing a nice statement necklace with it. Jeans, boots, clutch, and your reading for a fall date night.

Apt. 9® Kaleidoscope Tunic
I have pretty much the same things to say about this tunic as the last one. However, I like the thicker belt a little better than the thin one.
ELLE™ Lace Tunic
I also wanted to find something with lace detailing, because, that is supposed to be a fall trend too. I liked this top except for the extra ruffle on the sleeves. If they would have made the sleeve a little more fitted, and use the same trim as the neckline I may have purchased this one. They say this is a tunic, but I strongly disagree. I think a tunic should at least cover your butt.

I'm Loving It

My vacation has come to an end. I’m sad to see it is over, but after a whole week without my daughter I’m very glad to have her around again. Tomorrow I head back to work, and will resume a normal blogging schedule.

Now for the point of this post. What has caught my attention so much so that I bought one in almost every color? Not to mention inspiring a whole post about it. On the way out of Great Lakes Crossing mall I saw a New York and Compnay, and had to stop in when I saw a BOGO offer on pants. I spotted there denim wall right away, and wasn’t seeing any skinny jeans in a wash I liked. However, I walked a little farther down and saw them. Jean leggings. I really like them on. They are super stretchy and comfortable, but didn’t bag after a full days wear. They will tuck into boots without a problem. The regular length hits at just the right spot for heels and flats. They have a dark wash, medium wash, khaki, black, and a brownish color. The thing I love so much about them is they don’t look like leggings, and actually fit my waist much better than most pants. I really don’t have any complaints about them. I think they will be in heavy rotation whenever it decides to cool down a bit.

By the way they aren’t as shiny in person. The medium denim wash are more faded too. The three pictured are what I brought home, and to round out my BOGO offer I got these dress capris.

The second part of my Target review covers a few tops. I also have Target dress reviews from the same shopping trip.

Xhilaration® Juniors Ruffle Tunic – Pink Mist

They had this loose fitting tank in a few different colors, and I believe one or two stripped versions as well. I wanted to really see how sheer it is, so I picked the lightest color. It is a little sheer, but not OMG what is she wearing see through. Just don’t wear a colorful bra, and you would be fine. The thing that drew me to this item in the first place was the curved empire seam. It is fairly long in length. The shorts I’m wearing aren’t short shorts, and this still hit an inch or so above the hem in front. However, in back it swoops down a bit longer. I would say the back part actually went an inch and a half past my shorts. On a scale of 1-5 I give it a 4.

Can you tell I had a thing for flower details that day? The flowers are sewn on stronger than most I’ve seen, so I wouldn’t be too worried about them coming off. I did feel that the straps come in farther than I prefer in front, but that is because it has a racer back of sorts. the straps also are chiffon (I think) instead of cotton like the rest of the tank. I think they would be a little scratchy in summer heat, but may be a little more tolerable come fall. I’m not a big fan of the scoop cut hem it has in front and back. On a scale of 1-5 I give it a 3. I can take it or leave it. If it ends up on the clearance rack, and the still have my size I may reconsider.

This last shirt is my favorite by far. It combines a flower and zipper detail that seems to be everywhere right now. I really don’t have any complaints about this shirt. It is cut nicely, and is about as long as the first shirt was in front. I really like that length. It is a little more fitted than the first two pieces, but still not skin tight. It lays nicely too. On a scale of 1-5. I give this one a 5! I can see pairing it with a nice pair of black dress pants, and heels for a night out. Or, dress it down with a pair of jeans.

I hope you liked the reviews. I got a few comments on the Target dress review (see link at the top of this post) saying they were happy to see me reviewing Target items. I did Target reviews, because, as you can tell when I give The Scoop on the outfits I wear a large majority of the pieces are from Target.
What trends are you looking at now?

This is the first of two Target dressing room reviews. I really liked a few of the pieces I tried on, but with the vacation coming up I didn’t want to go crazy at a store I can shop at all the time. I’m dreaming of beautiful stores that I don’t have in town. If anybody wants to throw out suggestions of places to shop, or things we should do in the Detroit, Michigan area let me know. We have a whole week to roam around.

Xhilaration® Juniors Body Con Tank Dress – Black

I liked the stripes better than the solid colors, but I think I would have like Navy and white better. A detail I really liked was that instead of the flowers being tacked on by one or two stitches they actually were pinned on. On a scale of 1-5 I give it a 4.

Liz Lange® for Target® Maternity Short-Sleeve Dress – Black/Red/White

I tried on a few maternity dresses I happened to spy on my way to the dressing room. They had a bit of an Anthropology or Shabby Apple look to them. This was one of the maternity items that are cut specifically for maternity. It didn’t fit on top at all. I do however, love the skirt part’s pattern. On a scale of 1-5 I give it a 2, but if I actually was in need of maternity clothes I would pick this one up in a heartbeat.

Sorry I couldn’t find it online

I think this was my favorite dress out of all of them that I tried on. I think the teal color is even better in person. It is a nice length that is modest, but not dowdy. The tiers fall just right. The fabric feels luxurious, but I believe it was under $25. On a scale of 1-5 I give this one a 4. My only concern is if it would wrinkle too easily.

Now these are the items I came home with. Nothing special just a few things I have been needed or wanting for awhile. A jean jacket, cardigan, shorts (worn here), and skirt. I look forward to styling them for you later.
