Brush Strokes

This is the first day back at the studio for the summer session. I’m thrilled to go back. Most people would love a week off from work, but this last week and a half have gone by so slowly. Don’t take me wrong…I enjoyed spending some extra time with my husband and kids. I just miss dance and teaching kids. You know you love what you do when you can’t stop thinking about it. I’ve come up with lots of new ideas for combos, or possible dances for next year. At least, I get five weeks to test some of these ideas out. Now, I need to figure out a new schedule for working out, blogging, and housework. I’ll get it all figured out just in time for it to change again this fall. Oh well, such is life.

I have credits to use at eShakti, and I’m trying to decide which of the beautiful pieces I want to get. I love the dress I already have from eShakti, but I don’t get to wear nice dresses as much these days. I’m leaning toward getting a cute tank or knit top instead.

I still have my eye on a few dresses too. I think this brown, floral, high-low maxi is too cute. I could see styling it for this fall too.

I have a few other pieces that I want too, but these are at the top of my list for there use and being in my budget. Tell me what you think.

This week the bloggers participating in Katy’s, of ModlyChicFriend Friday are talking about the seeming phenomenon of one time wear clothing. Read my answers below then jump to ModlyChic for everybody else’s answers.

1. Are you a one-time wearer?
No way! I think everything in my closet has been worn multiple times. some of the items, being second hand, have even had multiple wearers.x
2. Do you feel the need to purchase something new for an evening out or a
special event?

Not necessarily, if it is a special event I may purchase something new, but that is if I don’t already have something appropriate to wear that I think fits the bill for the event. I do think certain events require something special, so I may opt to purchase some new shoes or accessories to update something I already own. Then, I satisfy the want for something new while not breaking the bank either.
3. Re-mixing is something a lot of bloggers are proud of being able to
accomplish – are you a re-mixing pro or do you shy away from posting items
frequently? Why?

I have to answer yes to both questions. I have no problem re-mixing and finding new ways to wear the same old things. However, I don’t like to post outfits that are eerily similar or the same piece too many times in a row.

4. Do you have a clothing budget or are you an impulse buyer?
Again, I will answer yes and no to both of these questions. I do not have a specific “clothing budget” yet, I consider myself to be a budget friendly style blogger. That being said, if I see something I really want, and I can afford it I’m going to get it!

5. Do you find yourself bored when reading a blog in which clothing items
are often remixed and appear frequently?

I don’t think I pay close enough attention to get bored by other fashion bloggers. I can read a personal style blog everyday while they are re-mixing the same jacket or skirt for a week straight. One of those days I am going to be inspired by how they did something different than I would have thought of! How can re-mixing be boring? After all, don’t they have regular features in magazines like Lucky and In Style that feature different ways to re-mix five different pieces with your current wardrobe for a month of new looks?

This weekend Nate and I went to see the Hunger Games with a few of my family members. Because, we were unsure of how busy a 12:30 showing would be Nate and I agreed to show up at the mall early to save our spots in line. In all reality, we didn’t need to do that, so I did a little window shopping while Nate sat reading his Nook. I thought it would make a decent post to share some of my favorite window displays.

Gap, blue & white, stripes, patterns

The Gap had a cute blue and white themed display that really caught my eye. Blue is my favorite colors, but this particular shade is just so pretty for summer. The cobalt blue maxi skirt is definitely on my wish list!

Gap Kids, Gap, pastels, window displays

As usual, Gap Kids had a setup that I had to snap a picture of. I would love to have an unlimited shopping spree at Gap/Gap Kids! Oh what a haul that would be!

Loft, the loft, window display, coral, stripes, florals, floral print, patterns, patterned

The last window display is from The Loft. Not only do I like that their mannequins have lips. I liked the coral colors, florals, and stripes. You will see a lot of this color for spring and summer 2012.

That’s it! My window shopping wrap up! What have you been spying in the windows of stores near you?

leather jacket, water colors skirtToday, I bundled up the kids and headed out to my six week check-up. I took this opportunity to dress up a bit. I paired the water colors skirt I picked up at Scout Dry Goods on Fashion’s Night Out with coordinating tights.

skirt, colored tightsI don’t get to dress up very often. I spend my day at home getting spit up on. Followed by putting on work out clothes to teach dance almost every afternoon/evening. Don’t get me wrong I do get dressed. I just don’t get the chance to take pictures very often.water colors skirt, ann taylor loft blouse, colored tights, silver flats

I really like this skirt. The colors are so pretty, and the tights are a good match. I originally wanted to wear this with a pair of my heeled boots. However, I opted for the Lucky’s silver ballet flats. I didn’t want to juggle the car seat, wrangle in a 3 year old, and navigate in heels with it being so windy out.
