Lady in Red

red dress, dress, cotton dress, leopard print, leopard print ballet flats, ballet flats, shoesThe first time I wore this outfit I was called the “lady in red”. I was also pretty pregnant at eight months along. This cotton, maternity dress from Target was cozy than, and now it is still ultra comfy. During my last pregnancy I didn’t wear a lot of maternity pieces. Honestly, I think I’ve worn a few of my maternity items more often when not pregnant. red dress, dress, cotton dress, leopard print, leopard print ballet flats, ballet flats, shoesLyla and I had a bit of extra fun while Nate took our photos today. Speaking of Lyla, check out a newish feature I’m running on kid’s clothing/fashion/etc. If you care about stuff like that is there anything you would like to see?red dress, dress, cotton dress, leopard print, leopard print ballet flats, ballet flats, shoesred dress, dress, cotton dress, leopard print, leopard print ballet flats, ballet flats, shoes

The Scoop

Maternity Dress-Target, Leopard Print Flats-Target

My daughter dropped a little pearl of wisdom while at Gammie’s house this weekend. She said, “Clothes are to help us look pretty like a princess.” Coming from a little girl who LOVES to run around “naked butt”, as she calls it, this caught me off guard when I got a text from my mom asking me if I taught her this. I replied that it wasn’t anything I shared with her. I’m sure that in watching me take outfit pictures and trying out new ways to wear things she came up with this jewel on her own.

Anyway, besides the obvious reasons of wearing clothes to cover our bodies, I have allowed her to choose her own “style” of dressing. Sometimes it is a hit, and sometimes I would say it was a miss. However, if she feels “pretty like a princess” in a striped dress with a paisley skirt, and skull leggings I’m happy.

I have raised a girl that is as comfortable in and out of clothes. Nate came to me saying we would have a problem on our hands. Lyla was in her room looking at her self in every angle possible. Later I asked her what she was doing looking at herself in the mirror like that. She told me she was strong and pretty, and when she grows big she will be gorgeous like mommy. I smiled and told her that yes she is strong and pretty, but we still have to wear clothes when leaving the house. She said she likes picking out her clothes.

Yes, she can often be found wearing princess dresses, or a mash up of different clothing. Either way, she is having fun and looks like a princess to me. At our house, we wear clothes to have fun!

Why do you wear clothes? Do you wear certain clothes, because, they are part of the “role” you are playing (mom, business woman, indie songstress, etc.)? Do you wear clothes to feel pretty? Do you wear clothes to blend in with what is “in” right now?

jean jacket, brown skirt, cowboy bootsI’ve got another outfit that was unconsciously inspired by another blogger. This time, I it ended up being Lisa from Archives Vintage that I realized my outfit kind of (in a squint one eye, and close the other sort of way) looks like the one she wore on a trip to upper Michigan. Honestly, it is just the boots and skirt that look similar. However, I really liked this outfit, and enjoyed dressing up for Jazz’s one month doctor appointment.

I have so many skirts and dresses that are harder to wear now that it is cold out, and I’m home all of the time. Any suggestions on how to get some extra casual use out of them?

blue scarf, grey cardigan, grey purseI know we are experiencing some cooler weather now (meaning the time you read this, and not necessarily the time that this was photographed and/or written), but I have a large handful of pictures that I wanted to have ready to post ahead of time. Today (9/15/11) I had a doctor’s appointment, and the doctor told me I may or may not make it to my OB appointment the following week. That got me thinking I should really get busy cranking out extra blog posts, as well as, contact a few of my blogging friends to set up guest posts. Hopefully, between my extra work and these fabulous ladies No Guilt Fashion won’t experience too much down time.Wherever you may be, and whatever weather you may be experiencing I leave you with my thoughts of this summer and warmer daystank top, shorts, scarf

  • On warm Saturday mornings in the summer I like to go to the Farmer’s Market.
  • Two of the upcoming giveaways I have for you wonderful readers are from wonderful ladies I met at the market this summer.
  • I like taking Lyla to the park when there are other kids for her to play with, but I secretly love it more when the big kids go back to school and it is just me and her running around. It also gave me a chance to just sit and watch her play too without worrying. I needed that time to just sit some days this summer.
  • Speaking of summer events I needed. I thoroughly enjoyed floating around weightlessly in my in-law’s pool. I highly recommend this activity for any pregnant woman.
  • How can I forget my market treat of kennel corn.

That wraps up a few of my fondest memories of summer. What did you enjoy the most this summer?
