Last time I took blog pictures at a school it was really cold out. This time it was the exact opposite. It was so incredibly hot out. I was wearing loose clothing, but still was almost dripping sweat while taking these pictures.

Admittedly, this is not my most stylish outfit. However, like I said it was incredibly hot out and I planned on doing some packing after these shots were taken. Hold on though, look at my feet. I added wedges to attempt to dress up the outfit at least a little bit. Did it work?

Lyla and I are in a weird transition time. Nap time is becoming a thing of the past, but she still needs to crash every few days. Instead, we have instituted quiet time. We put aside our activities for an hour or so, and she lays on my bed while we watch a show or a movie.

This afternoon, we went to a park to take pictures. Usually, when we have been taking pictures outside, we are in an area I don’t exactly want her to run around wildly. This park houses the field that my husband’s old flag football team practices at. It was the perfect spot to set up my tripod.

When Lyla asked me what we were doing. I told her, “Momma is taking pictures, and you can run around.” Shortly after I started snapping pictures Lyla looked at me and yelled, “Look Mom I’m running around!”

I used to hate wearing denim on denim, but I really like this look. Maybe it is the polka dots that break it up, or the bright pink moccasins. On the other hand it could be how comfy these pants are, even at 23 weeks pregnant.

I’m trying my best to get more outdoor pictures for the blog. These pictures were easier to take, because, I had my wonderful husband along to play photographer. It makes it easy to pose for the camera when someone is behind it. Coming up soon I have lots of ootd’s self-photographed by yours truly out on location. I must say, I’m not as happy with them as I am when Nate takes my picture. I recently read IFB’s post Three Tech Tips for Blog photos, and I’m trying to get the handle of using my camera on manual mode instead of automatic.

It doesn’t help I’m being forced into mastering the manual mode, because, the old lens from our 35mm isn’t auto focusing all the time. Ugh…it’s always something.

Oh, what a day! It started out beautifully. Lyla slept until 7:30, came into my room, and slept another 45 min. However, I think the trick to that blissful arrangement is the absence of nap time. I’m not sure if I like that idea or not, but I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing time spent alone in bed. To my surprise that was followed by a day spent with a happy kiddo. After making it to a late lunch with not a meltdown in sight, I decided to test out the rest of the day without a nap again. It seemed to work pretty well. The only issue I had at all was a mishap upon leaving Grammy’s while we were entering the biggest storm of the season.

This is what I chose to wear on a day I felt like absolute crap. This was the day after recital, and I didn’t go to bed until sometime after 2am. That, my friends, is way too late for me. I’m an old married person (with kids to boot), and don’t get invited out often. My body is sorely out of practice for such activity.

Anyway, I wanted to look a thousand times better than I felt. This blazer paired with the wedges did just the trick. Do you dress up too feel better about how you feel? Is there a particular piece in your closet that when you put it on you feel a million times better. I guess it is a take on the fashion directive about dressing for the job you want, and not the job you have. The Scoop
