20130201-221142.jpgToday’s post is easy in theory, but a pain in the butt too. I had some eye shadows that I had for a long time, and wasn’t using anymore. Instead of throwing them away I decided to up cycle them into a on trend nail polish color.

Necessary Items & Steps

Eyeshadow

Clear Nail Polish (I used Ulta’s clear polish I got on sale for 99Ā¢)

Something to use as a small funnel (I used a scrap piece of card stock.)

Crush the eyeshadow and funnel it into the clear nail polish. This part is VERY MESSY. You will need to mix the polish well before each use. The pigment settles to the bottom while sitting. Using just the remainder of the eyeshadow “pots” created the color I wanted, but I did find I needed multiple, thin coats to match what it looks like in the bottle.

I made a forest green and iridescent dark purple. Here are the Instagram pictures I posted of these colors.

Earlier this year right before the blockbuster movie the Hunger Gameswas released China Glaze produced a line of nail polishes inspired by the 12 districts. I fell in love with this sparkly nude color. It went on well. Needing only two coats for full coverage. The subtle shimmer covered any possible brush strokes. Out of 5 I give this nail color a 4.5! Love it!

Do you know what today is? Well lovelies, today is my blog birthday. However, I feel like I’m starting all over with this blog. I had to take time off for medical/personal reasons. I know a small number of you are still around and commenting, for that I am thankful and I love you all. Another handful jumped ship, but I’m ok with that (I think, or at least I’m trying to be).

Anyway, I’m so grateful for all of my wonderful readersĀ  I wanted to giveaway a little thank you gift package. I thought opening my new domain and my blog birthday would be the perfect timing. It is also a thank you for putting up with everything while I continue to tweak the site design. Please let me know if you find anything that isn’t working properly, or is giving you issues.

The package is a few of my favorite things.

Please excuse the bad polish job. It was right before lunchtime and a hungry toddler didn’t allow for touch-ups first.
