Maybelline, Pink Pout, black wrap, heart necklace, Miss Ky's CoutureThis isn’t the best blog post I’ve posted here at No Guilt Fashion, but it surely isn’t the worst either. These pictures were taken with my iPhone by my husband. The top one was filtered through instagram, but the bottom two are un edited. I don’t normally post phone photos, but I wasn’t going to make it back home in time to get my camera and take pictures before it got dark out. (Darn daylight savings time!) So, while we were waiting around for Nate’s mom to finish up with a bit of work she had to do I asked Nate to snap a few pictures for me.

The outfit isn’t anything special either. I hadn’t planned on leaving the house. When Nate asked if I wanted to run to the grocery store I put on a necklace and boots, and was out the door. Honestly, I don’t think I did to bad for accessorizing a nursing tank and jeans20111130-212144.jpgThe Scoop

For this week’s What They Wore I’m still doing something different. The last month or so, I have been seeing a lot of really simple DIY projects go through my reader. I thought, it would be fun to highlight some of the DIY’s that jumped out at me. Hopefully, you enjoy them as much as I did, and maybe you even find one or two that you make yourself.

Abby from, The Closet Files, did a simple and inexpensive ($4) DIY peacock earring post.

Meggy, of Chasing Davies, made a super simple DIY rope necklace that makes a great statement piece. You could make it in any color too.DIY rope necklace

Katy, of ModlyChic, gathered up her siblings and a few supplies to make some fun and quiet clay bangles.

If you have a DIY post that you would like to share please link up below. I could use the extra inspiration, and would LOVE to see what you’ve been up to.

I found Miss Ky’s Couture at the Haymarket Farmer’s Market in my area. When I passed by the booth, I saw a few different pieces that I liked. It was the charm necklaces that caught my eye originally.

Then I saw the earrings she made. I really like how simple some of them are without looking boring. I believe that all of her earrings are made from sterling silver.

Kylee also makes personalized silver tag style necklaces. I also found a handful of other really cute pieces that were a bit on the fun side. Brightly colored coiled rings, or button embellished rings in a variety of sizes, colors, and shapes. Or, if you prefer the more sophisticated pieces she has oodles of pearl and silver items. I wanted to get several different colored pearl necklaces.

However, what I ended up walking away with is three of her bottle cap charms. Why did I get them? I wanted to make a creative mother’s necklace. My one of a kind necklace includes a charm that has a letter representing each of my children, and one with an “!” for the baby I never got to meet.

A few things that I like about these specific pieces is that the charms may rub up against each other, but they haven’t gotten scratched up at all. Also, I can switch them up to a variety of different chain styles and lengths. I love the number of choices that this gives me. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on how cute the necklace is, and how wonderful the mother’s necklace idea is.

I’ve got nothing but good things to say about Kylee and her jewelry. She was very pleasant to talk to despite how blazing hot out it was, or how busy the market was. I know that I will be going back to her booth soon, and can’t wait to show you what I get next!

*The bottom three pictures are mine. All other pictures came directly from the Miss Ky’s Couture Facebook page.

Yes, when I got this necklace I planned on naming the first post it appeared in after the song by B.O.B that is floating around the radio waves. If I had a wish right now it would be to finish up this work week a little faster. For a first week back from vacation it went really well. I’m just looking forward to Lyla’s pool party Friday evening. I still need to get to the store to buy cake mix. I’m thinking of doing either white or red velvet cupcakes with ice cream instead of icing on top. I personally love red velvet cake, but can’t decide what to do. While Nate is coaching I think Lyla and I will go over to my Mom’s and borrow her oven. We are still without a properly functioning oven. You can use it, but I don’t trust it to bake cupcakes.

Today’s outfit is pretty dressed down until you get to my shoes. The wonderful thing about these shoes is I got them for free from Nate’s aunt while on vacation. I actually came home with two pairs from her. She was cleaning out her closet, since, she came home with two more pairs from our shopping trip to DSW. Lucky me! I wear a similar shoe size!

I was also inspired by the lovely Style Underdog. She can often be seen sporting a fabulous men’s inspired watch. Heck she can style just the H E double hockey sticks out of men’s shirts. I found the watch in Forever 21 of all places, and spent maybe $7 on it.

What is “It” I’m talking about? Kendi Everday’s 30 for 30 remix challenge. The rules are to pick out 30 pieces and remix them exclusively for 30 days. Here are my pieces for the challenge. Accessories don’t count, and I had to not include leggings. Some of the items I chose to wear are appropriate without leggings, but for work I have to have the extra coverage. Hope that doesn’t break the rules too much.
