Katy of ModlyChic gave us a fun set of questions for this weeks Friend Friday. We are talking about color, and how we incorporate (or don’t for some) it into our wardrobes.  This week is also exciting, because,

We Love Colors is sponsoring it. A few of the bloggers were sent a pair of tights to try out, style, and fall in love with. Expect to see lots of color in everyones answers this week.

1. What color dominates your closet?
Blue is my favorite color, but after a mandate from the Mr. I began purchasing different colors. Surprisingly, purple became my replacement blue. At the moment I think I have a decent mix of colors.

2. If money weren’t an issue how would you change the color emphasis in your closet?
Honestly, I’m pretty happy with the color variations of my wardrobe. In the spirit of dreaming, I guess I would use my money to continue to add fun and interesting colors. Maybe some harder to work with shades. I hear neon bright colors are going to big this summer.
Ooh!!!! Shoes!!!! I change my answer. I would buy shoes in every color. I love colorful shoes!

3. What is your mantra about mixing color?
I don’t think I really have a mantra. I guess I try it out, and if I don’t like it I change. However, if you want to quote me on something I’ll go with, “If it is in the rainbow, it can be worn together.”
4. For you, how do you incorporate color into your outfits?
I try and wear at least one colored piece with every outfit. I grew up wearing a lot of black for ballet, so touches of color are more fun for me. It is a means of expression, instead of conforming to a dress code.

I also wear a lot of colored tights. Which after testing out these WLC babies I’ve found a new love. They are soft, warm, and durable. What more can you ask for from tights*?

5. Which blogger(s) do you think do a good job of incorporating color into their wardrobe?
I know I’m not the only one that will mention this lady, but Suze of Miss Vinyl Ahoy is a color mixing queen. I also think Franca of Oranges and Apples mixes colors together quite well. I really like Chelsea of Three Birds, but maybe it is more the bright wall she photographs in front of that always screams “color” to me.
*I wasn’t paid for a review of these tights. What I said is what I really think about them. We Love Colors is not a sponsor of NGF. However, I would love to work with them. Maybe do a giveaway!

Prepster or sweater person according to Nate. I was a pattern mixer today as well. I’m getting better at this stuff. Be proud Style Nation!
Now I’m going to take a Style Underdog moment and pop my collar while planning how I will rule the carpool when The Bean finally enters Kindergarten.

I already mentioned that I need my hair done. After today’s photos I’m absolutely sick of my hair. I hope this is a case of blah/bad hair days as I still have another week before I can do anything about it.
Ok, enough complaining…How are things going for those of you participating in the 30 for 30 challenge? At this point, I’m happy with my outfit choices so far. Also, shopping band is still in tact! Husband is pretty happy about that one. Though truth be told I really don’t do that much shopping or spending.

Katy’s set of questions for this weeks Friend Friday came at a perfect time. I was already debating whether I should combine posts, or have two separate posts. You see I’m participating in three things today. Friend Friday for one, Kendi Everyday’s 30 for 30 remix, and What Andie Wears‘ Go Red for Women’s Heart Health. You see all of these things are being participated by myself and numerous other bloggers. Am I just jumping on the bandwagon? Am I doing something that takes away the unique voice I’ve been building on this blog. To quote Natasha Bedingfield, “I’m only one voice in a million, and you ain’t taking that from me.”

1. With all of the blogging events out there how do you determine which ones to participate in and which ones to avoid?
I pick and choose what events I participate in based on how I relate to the cause/mission/challenge etc. If I feel that I don’t have an attachment to an event no matter how “good” it is I won’t participate.

2. Be honest, have you ever jumped on the bandwagon of some blogging movement/event for the wrong reasons? How did that turn out?
None that I can think of. I’ve only done Friend Friday, 30 for 30,
Everybody, Everywear, and now Andie’s thing. All of these events I’ve both enjoyed doing while benefiting from them at the same time.

3. How do you give your own flair to blog event while still maintaining the general mission and purpose?
This is a tough one to answer. I guess I just try to be myself. Whether that is answering the questions in my own style and wording choice, or how I plan on using “red” without always wearing it each Friday in February.

  4. When determining the best content for your blog what criteria do you keep in mind?
My two criteria are pretty easy to follow. Anything on my blog has to be within a realistic budget and has to be something that I can match to my style.

5. While everything will not suit your blog, how do you try and support your fellow bloggers who are participating in something worthwhile?
If I’m participating or not I try and comment on other bloggers’ posts to encourage them along the way.
