Last week, Nate and I took the kids with us to Village Pointe in Omaha to get his new suit fitted. While there we did some other shopping. Lyla reminded me I needed a new helmet, so I can safely ride my bike. She yelled at Nate last summer for not wearing a helmet once. I guess, she has been paying attention to what I tell her. Lyla also needed to buy a pair of silver, sparkly Toms for my sister’s wedding. Periwinkles didn’t have her size in stock, but they will be In about the same time as Nate’s suit is back from alterations. That just means in 2-3 weeks I get another Omaha shopping trip. You won’t hear me complaining about that. We also stopped at Sephora and Gap, but left those stores empty handed. By this time we were ready to eat. Pit stop was made at Pancheros. We enjoyed freshly made tortillas with our burritos or quesadillas, as well as, munching on chips and their queso dip. My mouth is watering just remembering how delicious everything was!

Before heading back home to Lincoln, we stopped in at Old Navy. I wanted to find a pair or two of shorts or capris for the gym. On my way out I checked the clearance rack, and found this fun shirt. It was only $5 and Lyla said it was cool, so I added that athletic wear finds. I’m glad I did! I actually got a lot of compliments on how fun it was. For this post gym outfit I wore cuffed jeans and bright blue tennis shoes. Next time I wear this shirt I want to pair it with something a bit more put together just to see how versatile it really is. I shouldn’t have a problem finding other ways to wear this shirt. Stripes are always in style, and the neon color is spot on for this spring/summer.

Chevelle

When I take pictures outside when I’m at home they usually end up being in my ally way. Right now my brother in-law’s Chevelle is sitting at the top of the driveway being slowly brought back to life. That meant it was ripe for the outfit post staging. Everybody meet Betsy. Occasionally, Josh likes to start it and sit in it for a few minutes before going to work. Just listening to the rumble of the engine. Let me tell you this car is loud. Lyla is actually scared by it sometimes. I got this vest for $9 at The Dress Barn. I went in there looking for a dress for my sister’s rehearsal dinner and came away with it and a dress for my mom to wear to the wedding, but no dress for myself. Oh well, this is seriously soft and cozy. Love it already! It greatly dressed up my camisole, jeans, and sandals look. I felt more put together with it on, and even more so with it belted. I like how fun and sparkly these sandals are. They make comfortable footwear a little less boring. I consider a pair of flat sandals to be a summer necessity. After all, I can’t always navigate the playground with two kids in my heels!

black and brown dress, NY & Co, colored tights, yellow tightsI picked this dress up on a “leave the kids with grandma, mom needs some alone time” thrifting trip just after Jazz was born. Even though I wore normal clothes most of my pregnancy it felt like I had nothing to wear now. Part of this was true, and not the mysterious fashion girl standing in front of her closet drama. I didn’t have very many things that worked well for me, since I was nursing. I’ve now become more comfortable nursing in just about anything in my closet. I found this dress, and knew the neckline would work for nursing and I would feel put together in it.jewelry, necklace, statement necklace, Charlotte Russe, Lia Sophia

Because, of the cold weather it was necessary for me to where tights. I couldn’t decide what color to wear, so I threw a few pairs on the bed and made Nate choose. Since, he picked yellow I went with black shoes, put on a gold and amber toned necklace, and went out the door.colored tights, oxford shoes, yellow tights

plaid scarf, blue shirt, black jeansOver Christmas break my brother in-law was back in town with his awesome assortment of camera lenses. I asked if he would be willing to take a few pictures for my blog. He kindly obliged, and we headed downtown. These are all straight out of the camera. No editing at all. They look great!

buffalo plaid, blue shirtI’m thrilled that today, I get to go out to the dance studio and start working on recital choreography for all of my classes. It is a fun week, because, everybody gets to see there costumes and hear their music for the first time. The squeals you hear when the tiny ballerinas see the pretty costumes they get t wear for their first recital is just precious. In fact, I’m lucky that my daughter Lyla is in my dance class. I’m happy that I get to be so involved in her first recital. Yep! I’m a proud momma!

Now for the outfit. It really isn’t anything too special. Black jeans with flat motorcycle like boots. A solid blue shirt and a buffalo plaid scarf I picked up at the Bass store closing sale by my dance studio. However, it photographed beautifully. The blues are so bright and cheery.

sweater dress, boots, leggingsLast Friday night (not to be confused by the annoyingly catchy Katy Perry song) was my dance studio’s Christmas Party. We went out for pedicures (something as a woman in general I like, but as a dancer that abuses my feet I love a good pedicure) and dinner at Upstream Brewery. A fantastic time was had by all. I have to say that I think my job has the best staff Christmas parties EVER!!!

I had to dress warm, because, of the snow and freezing cold weather. However, I had to be able to roll up my pants for the pedicure. I can’t quite comfortably fit into my wider legged pants yet, so I choose to wear leggings with my sweater dress. I was comfortably warm and appropriately dressed for the occasion.
