I was catching up on my blog reading when I spotted this outfit on
What Would a Nerd Wear. Now I didn’t have a red checkered shirt, but I did have a gray and white version. I also swapped out the brown belt and shoes for black. Thanks for the inspiration!

Do you know the feeling you get when you are driving along, and you notice the gas gauge is on that awful red line? The line that means you need to fill up or stop driving. No big deal. You will just pull in to the next gas station, and put a couple of gallons in. Bad news is the next gas station is a bit farther than you can make. Good news is most of it is downhill. You end up just coasting in to park at the pump. You open up the gas tank, you hear the fumes, and you thank your lucky stars that you made it far enough. Anyway, that whole thing was not to say that I almost ran out of gas today. It was to say I think summer has finally landed on “E”.
Getting a little bit of extra mileage out of some summer items was my goal. It turned out decently, but I think I should have done another color for the long sleeve. However, it was black or orange and the black was definitely the best pick.
What summer items are you still managing to wear? How are you styling them differently?

As I’m writing this I’m struggling to keep my eyes open. I had a full weekend of work, and know I’m sitting on the couch putting together posts from a weeks worth of pictures. Lyla is napping and Nate is watching Stargate Atlantis on Netflix. What an exciting afternoon. Right? Oh, I guess this whole time I’m doing laundry too. We don’t have time together as a family very often, and now when we are together we don’t usually do anything. Any suggestions for fun, family friendly fall activities?

Oh the things little kids will do to get their parent’s attention. Just so you know Lyla got my attention during picture time by licking the mirror downstairs. I promise you the mirror was clean before hand, but still it was a bit strange for her.
This was the reaction she got out of me. Plus my best Jerry Lewis impersonation.
If you have never seen the Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin Colgate Comedy Hour you probably don’t know what I’m talking about.

My shoe wardrobe is still missing a pair of black pumps, otherwise, that is what I would have been wearing. These shoes are a close second, and look pretty decent. I had a customer tell me I should swap the shirt for a button up or polo, shorten the skirt, and go as a school girl for Halloween. I think I will pass on that option. Check out the article Indiana from Adored Austin wrote on the crazy things people try to turn in to sexy costumes. I think it is stupid. If you don’t want to take the time to put some real thought into a costume don’t dress up. Please save yourself the humiliation of looking back at those pictures that are guaranteed to be taken when you have had one to many drinks. Hop on over to Miss Vinyl Ahoy and check out her costume series where she put together great costumes with items from her closet.
