Today, was the first time I used my new tripod to take my OOTD pictures while the hubby was at work. I need some work, but I think I did ok for being my first time.

I got this button up floral shirt a few weeks ago, and have been trying to figure out how I wanted to style it for summer. I knew I would be able to wear it this fall, but I didn’t want to wait. I played around with a few ideas, and ended up buying dark wash shorts. I looked on the clearance rack at Target for a pair, but didn’t love any of the choices. I wasn’t going to pay $15 dollars for a pair of shredded shorts. As I was walking to the front of the store I pasted the girl’s section. I saw a jacket that I really liked, and thought it looked big enough for me to wear. I decided I would give looking there a shot. I found these plain dark wash jean shorts, and used the “flea market trick” of holding the waistband around my neck to see if it would fit without having to try them on. Sure enough they made it around. I figured for $8.00 It was worth a shot. They fit perfectly. I do however, feel a little funny wearing the same brand as my almost two year old daughter. They do have a feature I love in Lyla’s clothes. They have an adjustable waist on the inside, but a normal waistband on the outside. That way you can cinch them in a bit if the are a little roomy. Not a problem I foresee happening for me, but a great thing for the kiddos.

This is a pretty budget friendly look.

I guess this is also the first time I’ve worn children’s clothing in ten to twelve years. Who knew I could be saving so much money all this time? Of course, not all things in that department are something I would want to/should wear. I promise you won’t see me sporting a Hannah Montana shirt anytime soon.

“Wait a second,” you say,”I thought Danie was already married.” Well, you would be correct in thinking that. I am in fact married, and have been for almost three years now. The reason for the title of this post is I decided to wear my wedding dress for today’s OOTD. I had a small, inexpensive, afternoon wedding. Thus the lack of a fancy, I will only wear once in a lifetime, dress. This dress is fun and flirty, and fit the occasion perfectly. If I remember correctly I got the dress at Younker’s, and it had a big bow on the front. I swapped out the big bow for a vintage looking brooch as my something blue. Actually, I had a lot of something blues: blue garter, blue brooch, blue jewelry including a blue stone in my wedding/engagement ring. Ok, I’m done with the trip down memory lane. Here are the pictures.

Yes I had to include a cheesy “look at the ring” picture. To bad you can’t see the details very well. Maybe, I will get a picture of it after getting it cleaned sometime.
 Anybody have exciting weekend plans?

Playing Catch

Let us see if I can catch up with real time here. Saturday night was my Sister in-law’s 21st birthday party, I stayed out late, and I got up early Sunday morning. I was so tired when I got back home I took full advantage of Lyla’s naptime, and slept as well. When all three of us got up we went to Walmart to get some groceries. That being said, I didn’t have a post worthy outfit to share. Monday, I ended up snapping pictures basically on the way out the door. Nate had to do some work at his parent’s house. We ended up spending the afternoon there, and stayed for supper. Once we got home it was too late for me to put together a post. Now that we are in present time here are the pictures.

This is my first attempt at wearing a piece of clothing different than it was intended to be. How do you think it turned out?

The reason I started this blog was to help me be more imaginative with my clothing and accessories. I figured if I am documenting it I won’t want to be boring by either repeating the same pieces over and over, or going for plain and boring outfits. Just after starting I stumbled on Kendi Everyday. Shortly after I became a follower she issued a 30 for 30 remix challenge to her readers. I decided this would be the perfect starting point for my blog. Boy was I wrong. I jumped in the deep end without knowing how to swim. To sum this up I’m going to drop the 30 for 30 remix, and challenge myself to remix and revive my current wardrobe without the limitations of a certain number of pieces. Trust me this is a challenge in itself. I wish good luck and happy remixing to all of the others joining Kendi in her challenge. I may be down for the count this time, but next time I’ll be ready.

As my farewell to the challenge I offer you this outfit. I wore this dress plain and simple here, but today I decided to wear it how I wouldn’t have done before. If you want to see me grow out of my comfort zone and into my knowledge of style please become a follower and stick around for awhile.

Here is a closer picture of the necklace.

It all started out with me regretting my 30 for 30 pieces. My closet is pretty slim anyway, so I thought it would be no big deal to only have 30 items to pick from. Let me tell you I was very, very wrong. The good news is after reading lots and lots of fashion blogs I am inspired on new ways to wear several of my wardrobe pieces not on my 30 for 30 list. The bad news is two of my pieces had a bad run in with a bottle of dark purple nail polish at the mall today.

Since I was having a rough day I decided to go to the mall for some time alone. I thought I would look for some accessories to spice up my 30 for 30 items. I know the re-mixers are supposed to be on a shopping ban during the challenge. Since accessories don’t count as part of your 30 pieces, and I really didn’t have many accessories to choose from,  I am going to bend the rules to give myself the same advantages the other re-mixers all ready have.  I also wouldn’t be spending very much, because, as I found out our mall is having it’s semi-annual “Lemon Days”.

I walked in through Younker’s, and they had a bin full of half off OPI nail polishes. I was looking through them, and the lady next to me dropped a bottle of dark purple polish. It broke open when it hit the floor. The lady managed to not get a single purple drop on herself. While I got most of the bottle all over my dress pants and shoes. The good part is the sales associate gave me an extra discount because of the disaster. I walked away with five new polishes for the price of two full price bottles. SCORE!!! Bad news I can’t get the polish out of the pants, and the shoes are pretty damaged too. I don’t have any clue what I am going to do. I only have the khaki Bermudas and the khaki pencil skirt on my list of pieces that I can wear to work. Bloggers what do you think I should do? Do I get a bye and add two more pieces to my list? The only other option is to bore you to death while repeating khaki bottoms over and over,

Enough is enough about my bad day. Here are the outfit pictures I remembered to take before the nail polish incident.
