blue scarf, grey cardigan, grey purseI know we are experiencing some cooler weather now (meaning the time you read this, and not necessarily the time that this was photographed and/or written), but I have a large handful of pictures that I wanted to have ready to post ahead of time. Today (9/15/11) I had a doctor’s appointment, and the doctor told me I may or may not make it to my OB appointment the following week. That got me thinking I should really get busy cranking out extra blog posts, as well as, contact a few of my blogging friends to set up guest posts. Hopefully, between my extra work and these fabulous ladies No Guilt Fashion won’t experience too much down time.Wherever you may be, and whatever weather you may be experiencing I leave you with my thoughts of this summer and warmer daystank top, shorts, scarf

  • On warm Saturday mornings in the summer I like to go to the Farmer’s Market.
  • Two of the upcoming giveaways I have for you wonderful readers are from wonderful ladies I met at the market this summer.
  • I like taking Lyla to the park when there are other kids for her to play with, but I secretly love it more when the big kids go back to school and it is just me and her running around. It also gave me a chance to just sit and watch her play too without worrying. I needed that time to just sit some days this summer.
  • Speaking of summer events I needed. I thoroughly enjoyed floating around weightlessly in my in-law’s pool. I highly recommend this activity for any pregnant woman.
  • How can I forget my market treat of kennel corn.

That wraps up a few of my fondest memories of summer. What did you enjoy the most this summer?

Nate, Lyla, and I went to the park to take pictures, and they just happened to be watering one section of grass. I personally thought this was a little weird to be doing at 7pm. Especially, while the senior citizens were still arriving for there ballroom lessons at the indoor pavilion right next to the sprinklers. However, to a three year old on a warm summery night, the sprinklers called out to Lyla just begging her to run through them. Of course, being the cool mom I am, when she asked me to join her I leaped at the opportunity. Literally!

I’m just glad I decided not to wear a white t-shirt today, or I would have had to find a way to distract Lyla from the siren call of the sprinklers. I also would have ended up without pictures of this outfit, as I am not the type of person to compete in a wet t-shirt contest.

I’m kind of proud of this outfit. Really, how many ways can you rework a romper?!? I’ve worn it with tights and a motorcycle jacket, or with a tank and leggings underneath. However, those are just different ways to style the romper. Today, I decided to wear it as a pair of granny shorts. I really liked the way it turned out. The bonus was not finding another way to style this piece. It was going to the bathroom without stripping down!

Schools and Universities everywhere have opened there doors yet again for fall semester. Since, I live in a college town and the husband works at the university I thought I would list a few of the college fashion habits I would love to see fall to the way side. Nate has personally picked a few of these nauseating trends himself. This is from a guy who sees this day in and day out. Please take notice and clean up your act.

  • The first trend he mentioned he wished it would crawl back Down Under was Ugg style boots worn with shorts. I personally want to say that I’m not a big fan of these boots worn with anything other than under flared or bootcut jeans. That is also stretching it sometimes.

I understand if you live somewhere that these shoes are actually beneficial to you. However, if it is cold enough for those types of weather conditions should you really be wearing shorts?!?! Really!!!

  • Speaking of shorts, those running shorts cut up to there really aren’t flattering or comfy. You beg to differ?!? How can constantly picking your shorts out of your behind be comfortable.

If you are wearing these simply to help beat the heat. Try wearing a cute sundress instead. Skirts make a good transition to fall as well as being comfortable. Another plus, no wedgies.

You trek miles each day from class to class. You aren’t doing yourself a favor by wearing flip flops all the time. A comfortable pair of flats can be cute, and also allow for an insert to be worn, if necessary, to help support your arches.  Flats come in many different styles, so you are guaranteed to find a pair to fit your style. Boots, ballet flats, oxford/brogue style, etc.

Check out my post on making shoes more comfortable. I have tried out a few different inserts and cushions, and share my opinions with you.

  • Well, I am on the topic of  less than fashionable things that can hurt you. Nate has another pet peeve. Your backpack is meant to assist you in carrying your burden of books. However, when you have the straps extended so far that the backpack hangs below your hips you are setting yourself up for major back problems in the future.

Check out these stylish options that look cute while playing their supporting role perfectly.

Yep, two semi patriotic outfits in one week. Here is my other red, white, and blue outfit. Guess I didn’t get the memo that the 4th is celebrated in July not August.

How do you feel about sporting red, white, and blue when no patriotic holiday is in sight?

I don’t have much to say about this outfit, or the events of the day. That leaves me with the only option being to tell you what transpired during this shoot. Not only was Nate super surprised that I had the nerve to stand in the middle of a semi busy road. He thought we would just take a few pictures on the side of the road by the corn field. Every car that passed by slowed down to stare at us. One even stopped to ask if everything was ok. I had to smile, because, there we were car turned off (no emergency lights on or hood raised) with a camera while I posed in the middle of the road.

I’m glad we chose this spot, because, I had a really bad day and I needed the smile and a laugh that these events gave me. Blogging has enriched my life in countless ways. Thank you readers (new and old) for being around giving me a reason to continue posting.

These shorts are the outcome of the thrifting/DIY adventure I posted about here. 7 for All Mankind flares turned red cutoffs. I would have preferred to have found a pair of red shorts or jeans to cutoff instead of dying these. They aren’t as fire engine red as I would have liked, but I’m happy with them none the less. What do you think about them?

Nate and I found this park (Hazel Able Park in Lincoln, NE) that they have recently renovated. It looks a million times better than it used too, or the surrounding neighborhood. The neighborhood is next to a historical district, but hasn’t been maintained as well as it could be.

This isn’t my greatest outfit, but hey it is hell’a hot out and you got to do what you can to stay cool. Plus, it was a boring weekend with no plans to speak of.
