jean jacket, shorts, tank topWhile driving home from teaching Lyla’s dance class at the studio everything is quiet for at least five minutes. Nobody has said a single word, but Lyla pipes up, “Daddy, did you say you want ice cream?” Nate and I die laughing, but sadly we didn’t have time to stop and get the girl ice cream. We had to get home, so Nate could go to work. However, you can’t blame the girl for trying. She came up with a plan that under any other circumstance would have earned her a dish of ice cream. jean jacket, shorts, tank topThe Scoop

Happy Wednesday folks! Hope everyone has made it to midweek without too much of a struggle. It’s downhill from here. The weekend is almost in sight. I hope to come up with something fun to do, but right now my only plans are being the person in charge at the dance studio Thursday and Saturday while the dance team competes in KC.

Maybe, we will take the kids back to the children’s zoo or the children’s museum. We purchased a dual membership last weekend. That would give me something to do for a couple of hours. How do you spend your weekends?

Lazy Day

Yesterday, was such a lazy day. I took the kids to the YMCA this morning for Lyla’s swimming lessons. Jazz went to Child Watch and after Lyla’s class was done we went swimming together. She really likes swimming with me, but up until this week swimming lessons have been a bit of a nightmare. She was hungry, had to go to the bathroom, needed a drink, was too cold…a million things wrong that ended up in her screaming for most of the first few classes. Thankfully, this week she really enjoyed the class and even jumped in and put her head under the water. After the pool we went home and read books for most of the day. Followed by, grilling pork chops for supper. For a day like this I saw no need to dress up. I kept things comfortable with this Mickey Mouse sweatshirt.

Today, is my first day back at the studio after spring break. I must say I’m so glad to be going back to work. Even after just one week away from my normal routine I missed it so much. It will be nice to have my me time back. I love my kids, but being home with them for the entire day by myself while Nate worked an extra job every night last week ideas a bit overwhelming.

I told you earlier that I’m writing posts pretty far in advance in preparation for my little guy’s arrival. Well the night I wore this was probably the last night out alone Nate and I would enjoy before becoming parents of two. Our evenings will return to diapering, feeding, and shushing Jazz to sleep. I won’t regret it at all, but I’m savoring my current life too.corduroy jacket, jeans

We went out to pick up dinner and bring it back home to enjoy. We tried a newish wing joint in town, J & K Wings and More, I would have to say that the regular food is only so so. However, the wings and sauces are pretty darn good. I had the Thai mustard sauce on my chicken sandwich. For someone who doesn’t usually like mustard I really liked it. For our wings we tried the Ragin Cajun sauce. I would have liked something a little spicier, but it did have a nice spice to it and great flavor. The wings are a pretty good size too.corduroy jacket, jeans

When we brought our food back home we settled in to watch a couple of movies. After the first movie we went out to get some snacks. We ended up walking around Barnes & Noble for a bit too. Once we made it back home we watched our second movie, and snuggled up for the evening.corduroy jacket, abstract print shirt, jeans

This month for Everybody, Everywear bloggers everywhere are wearing lace. After the voting ended, an lace was announced the winner I automatically started thinking about what lace items I had in my closet. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any lace or lace accented pieces. I guess I did have a camisole or two that have a small amount of lace trim on the neckline. In my opinion that didn’t actually count. I didn’t even have any cute lace wrapped accessories. What I did have is a lace nightie. Insert giggles, snickers, or blushing. I immediately began brainstorming on ways I could make it appropriate to wear out.I lucked out and had a nice, cool day last week. I’m talking thunderstorms the night before and only reaching 65. I was ecstatic! That meant I could layer a bandeau under and a cardigan on top. That meant I could be completely covered, yet still show off my lace.

I took advantage of the beautiful weather, and my free time by going to the park and taking pictures on the bike path. I’ve taken pictures outside before, but it isn’t nearly as nerve wracking when your husband is taking your pictures. This was my first go around with outdoor self-portraiture. I lucked out and nobody went by on the path. I just had to deal with a construction worker gawking at me from the parking lot. I hope to do this more often, now that I am home with Lyla during the day. I guess I should start reading up on Hello Monkey Face’s Self-Caught Feature. I didn’t have any issues with other passer-bys until I moved up to take accessory shots. The Scoop

How do you deal with curious onlookers? Any outdoor self-portraiture tips?
