Lady in Red

red dress, dress, cotton dress, leopard print, leopard print ballet flats, ballet flats, shoesThe first time I wore this outfit I was called the “lady in red”. I was also pretty pregnant at eight months along. This cotton, maternity dress from Target was cozy than, and now it is still ultra comfy. During my last pregnancy I didn’t wear a lot of maternity pieces. Honestly, I think I’ve worn a few of my maternity items more often when not pregnant. red dress, dress, cotton dress, leopard print, leopard print ballet flats, ballet flats, shoesLyla and I had a bit of extra fun while Nate took our photos today. Somebody asked me if my sundress had clouds on it. No clouds, just oddly shaped patterns. I decided the dress was too big for me as is, but belting it would be ok. Yet, after belting it I remembered that I would probably be a bit chilling that evening. After removing the belt, I chose a striped button up that would make for a fun pattern blend. I would be warm enough too.

This weekend I was in charge of the finale rehearsal at my studio. Usually, this practice has 50+ girls and two teachers and one high school assistant. Because, the Arabesque Company, our dance team was competing in Kansas City we had fewer ten ten fewer girls. However, it also meant that I was the only teacher. Thankfully, everything went really well and the dancers worked really hard.

How was your weekend? Any exciting happenings?

Fall weather may has not officially arrived here in Nebraska. In fact, we have had some relatively fabulous weather. Sunny with a cool breeze in the mid 70s. Beautiful, just beautiful weather. I’m happy to get some use out of my summer dresses before I start covering them up with cardigans, jackets, and pairing them with colorful tights and boots. All that I needed to do to re-wear this salmon colored sundress was tie a scarf around my neck. Just enough to cover me up from the breeze during my long walk to lunch with Lyla.salmon sundress

I like how the color of the scarf and the sundress blended together. I also was happy wearing it with silver flats instead of the summer wedges I wore before. I did a lot of walking, and needed to carry Lyla the last part of the way home. I’m not sure I have the balance to do that in heels with this bump.salmon sundress, blue scarf

Now, I’m looking for ideas to style this sundress for real fall weather. Any suggestions? I’m thinking a sweater of some sort with thick tights and my tan colored boots.Target sundress, scarves, silver flats

A few weekends ago, I went up to the dance studio I teach/work at for what I thought was a staff meeting. I walked back to the studio that I was told the meeting was in. Opened the door, lights were off, and a group of friends shouted out, “Surprise!”navy blue dress yellow ballet flats

Not often do I get surprised by things or surprises at all. I usually either know what I’m getting from Nate, because, I helped pick it out or I just figure it out ahead of time. This time Nate was is on the surprise too. He even drove me out to Gretna without spoiling the surprise.navy dress yellow ballet flats

This dress is one of many pieces I picked up at the last 99 cent sale at Goodwill. I actually managed to come away with 25 pieces that I’m pretty happy with. I can’t wait to show them off on the blog. A few of them I got with the intentions of trying to alter them slightly, but most fit absolutely perfect. Or, at least will fit well after this baby arrives. Yes, I know I’ll have a bit before I’m back to my normal size, but I have faith that it happened once it will happen again.

This dress is so incredibly soft, and it was just what I wanted to wear on a hot day. Especially, when I was already uncomfortable before even leaving the house. Do you own a dress like that? One that makes you feel comfortable the minute you slip it on.American Eagle Navy dress Steve Madden Yellow Ballet Flats

In 2003, the city of Lincoln had a public art exhibit around town that featured artistic bicycle sculptures. Of course, it was aptly named the Tour de Lincoln. At the end of the 5 month public run a large auction was held. Many of the 71 bikes on display still remain in the city, although, some have different permanent homes.tour de lincoln black-dress-bicycle-sculpture

I ran across one of the bikes during my “Best Friend” photo shoot, and decided it would be a good project to try and take my ootd pictures with as many of the Tour de Lincoln bicycles that I could find. This may take awhile, but here is my starting point on my personal Tour de Lincoln.tour de lincoln black-dress
