Color Blocking: Wearing two or more solid blocks of color in a single outfit.

color blocking red/purpleSounds simple, doesn’t it? Well it is simple, yet it is a trend we have seen on NYFW’s runways again for spring/summer 2012. Now the reason it is popular, and mentioned as a trend is because color blocking is most commonly styled with bright colors. Often almost neon shades! That isn’t something for the faint of heart. However, you can still wear the color blocking trend by doing the simplest definition of the trend. Combine two solid block of color.color blocking purple cardigan red shirt, jeans

That is what I did for today’s outfit. I simply combined to solid block of color in the form of a shirt and a cardigan. However, I chose two colors that I don’t normally wear together for my color blocking outfit. Red and Purple. Because, it was cold out I decided to add a scarf and knee high socks with my oxfords. What do you think? What is your opinion of the color blocking trend?sweater, scarf, jeans

I love cool spring mornings that turn into wonderful, warm days! Days that you need a jacket or sweater leaving the house, but by the time you get off work it is perfect barbecuing temps. Honestly, I leave the house at 6:00am every morning and prefer to always wear a jacket of some sort. It is layers that make the outfits on days like that.

I mentioned on my daughter’s guest post that I will be adjusting my posting schedule until shortly after the baby comes. I plan on posting OOTD’s on Mondays; either Product Reviews, Every Man, Woman, and Child posts, OOTD or other random posts; Fridays I am shooting for getting back into the swing of  Friend Friday posts.

I choose to style my red pencil skirt for warmth a little more than fashion. I wouldn’t normally paired it with the otk boots, but I could pair tights and wool socks underneath without worry of what they looked like.

Warm, snuggly, stylish cocoons. I LOVE SWEATER DRESSES! This one, though a cheap Forever 21 find, is surprisingly non-itchy. I wish I could afford a 100% cashmere version, but this one will be a good stand in until I’m gifted one or can afford the splurge. What cold weather splurges do you make?

I can barely keep my eyes open to write this post. My mom had Lyla overnight again, and I wish I could say that Nate and I took advantage of the situation and slept in. In fact, I was up at 5:00 am wide awake and hungry. I ran to the kitchen trying not to wake Nate or the dogs grabbed a banana and jumped back in bed. Unfortunately, after finishing my morning snack I was even more awake than I was a few minutes ago. I did what any sane fashion blogger would do, I checked Twitter, Facebook, and tried catching up on a few blogs. Thankfully, after an hour and a half of that I fell back asleep only to wake up an hour later.
Once Nate and I were both up and ready to go we headed out the door to run a few errands while we were childless. Nate and Lyla got new shoes, and I scoured CVS and Shopko looking for a particular Burt’s Bees lip balm. This wonderful product that I’ve heard rave reviews about was no where to be found. Anybody know where I can find their Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter? Also, don’t they make a lip product in a tin too? Couldn’t find that either.
Sunday, was spent working at church than watching a few of my dancers perform at a nursing home. More on that at a later date. When we finally got home I was wiped. I tried napping, but that was fairly unsuccessful. I finished catching up on 30 for 30 outfit pictures, and started a load of laundry. I would like to report that I got more things done, but I’m only human and a tired one at that.
