Crazy Pants

I remember a long time ago that I couldn’t wait till I could shop in the junior’s department. Well, these days I’m jazzed that I can still shop in the kid’s department. The junior’s department at Target has a few different pairs of printed pants, still a big trend this season, but I didn’t want to pay $20+ dollars for them. I lucked out and found these for $16 in the kid’s department. They are brighter and crazier than the “older” versions, but they are fun!12-31-12#2 12-31-12#3Leather Motto Jacket-Wilson’s, Shirt-Target, Floral Pants-Target, Shoes-Payless

The last day of summer dance classes, and cleaning up the studio for our open house this weekend required a simple, ok to mess up, outfit. I thought a fun color combo would make it a little more worthwhile. Cherry red crop top, long cutoffs, and bright blue tennis shoes.

I had a heck of a time photographing this outfit. However, you get to see my favorite poster at the dance studio. I love the Fosse print in back. Bob Fosse was a choreographic phenomenon! Some day, I want to choreograph a Fosse jazz tribute. Haven’t found the perfect group for this yet, but I’m still waiting.

Last week, Nate and I took the kids with us to Village Pointe in Omaha to get his new suit fitted. While there we did some other shopping. Lyla reminded me I needed a new helmet, so I can safely ride my bike. She yelled at Nate last summer for not wearing a helmet once. I guess, she has been paying attention to what I tell her. Lyla also needed to buy a pair of silver, sparkly Toms for my sister’s wedding. Periwinkles didn’t have her size in stock, but they will be In about the same time as Nate’s suit is back from alterations. That just means in 2-3 weeks I get another Omaha shopping trip. You won’t hear me complaining about that. We also stopped at Sephora and Gap, but left those stores empty handed. By this time we were ready to eat. Pit stop was made at Pancheros. We enjoyed freshly made tortillas with our burritos or quesadillas, as well as, munching on chips and their queso dip. My mouth is watering just remembering how delicious everything was!

Before heading back home to Lincoln, we stopped in at Old Navy. I wanted to find a pair or two of shorts or capris for the gym. On my way out I checked the clearance rack, and found this fun shirt. It was only $5 and Lyla said it was cool, so I added that athletic wear finds. I’m glad I did! I actually got a lot of compliments on how fun it was. For this post gym outfit I wore cuffed jeans and bright blue tennis shoes. Next time I wear this shirt I want to pair it with something a bit more put together just to see how versatile it really is. I shouldn’t have a problem finding other ways to wear this shirt. Stripes are always in style, and the neon color is spot on for this spring/summer.

sweater, sweaters, jeans, tennis shoesAll over the nation, we had a mild winter. Spring is here now, but it feels a bit more like summer. On one of the few cooler, spring like day I wore this slightly autumnal sweater/color palate. It wasn’t anything really special, because, it was another day I didn’t know what I would be doing out at the studio.

They say diamonds are a girls best friend, but shoes keep her strutting around stylishly. They really can make or break an outfit. I want to show you some iconic shoes, and today’s interpretation of them. Now, some of these shoes will be amazing and I would be proud to wear them out and about. However, prepare yourself. Some of the shoe interpretations are just plain horrendous.

Cinderella had a fairy godmother that waived a magic wand to prepare her for a ball. Her look was made complete with glass footwear.

Now, I found the following shoes after searching for Cinderella Shoes. They are from a wedding website, however I wouldn’t wear them to my own Cinderella ball or wedding for that matter. Cinderella shoes, glass slippers

I also never have or never will wear the lucite “prom” shoes either. You know what I mean. Huge platforms combined with spiky clear heels that you can see your feet perspire in. In addition to being one of the top most blister inducing shoes known to man. Ouch! I will cram my foot into my old pointe shoes, and dance a full length version of Cinderella before I wear those shoes.

Next up is the shoes with transportation powers. Yes, I’m talking about Dorothy’s iconic ruby slippers.

While my home may not be in Kansas, and my three best friends aren’t a scarecrow, tin man, and a cowardly lion I would wear a Louboutin version of this sparkly red shoe in a heart beat if someone bought me them.

Now, for another pair of red shoes I would wear if I didn’t get danced to my death.

Are there any iconic shoes you would want to wear a modern day version of? My husband personally would love a pair of these Nike Hyperdunks.
