It’s Friday people! Honestly, this was a very long week. I don’t have big plans for this weekend except for attending my cousin’s wedding on Sunday afternoon. Saturday, I plan on sleeping in and going about my day in as relaxed a way as I possibly can. This is my second to last weekend off, before, Nate and I are back to working opposite shifts on Saturdays. Double this with the fact that he works Sunday mornings also, weekends aren’t easy for us if we want to see each other at all.

What are you doing this weekend? For those of you who have gone back to school to teach or learn, or have children in school how have the first days gone? Have you fell into your stride and figured out schedules and such? I’ve been writing out my lesson plans for the first week of classes, and now I need to come up with choreography for combos too. I love my job!

If you want to see real pictures taken in Narnia check out the shots Wyn took for my sister’s engagement pictures. I just was standing next to a lamppost. Honestly, I was happier about this outfit when I had a tan cami underneath, but that had a large stain on it before I took pictures. The black camisole is just too distracting, and the blouse was too low cut to do without.

I got this blouse for $1 at Goodwill while I was pregnant. I actually have two of them. One in this salmon color and one in tan. I picked them up, because, of there sheer breezy style. It was one hot summer, and not a time for a pregnant woman to be stifling herself in layers. I don’t think I ever posted pictures of me wearing either blouse while pregnant. Now is a better time than never. However, I am not crazy about the long tunic length now. To remedy this problem I knotted the front and tucked in the back. What do you think? Does it look ok? How else would you style this blouse?

Paisley print, wood bracelet, Lia Sophia, green ring

As for accessories, I went with brown and gold tones. The ring and wooden bangle are from Charlotte Russe and the gold bracelet is from Lia Sophia. Nothing too special, but I am making an effort to accessorize more. Last Friday Nate and I went to Omaha to buy him a suit for my sister’s wedding in July. After ordering his suit from Jos A Bank, and a round of Nate vs. Siri we went to Charming Charlie’s. I will admit that the store lived up to my expectations. Jazz loved looking at all of the pretties too. I ended up getting a pair of earrings and two rings. I know I’ll go back when we go to pick up his suit when it comes in around the beginning of May. I need to consult my sister to see what kind of jewelry it will be ok for me to wear in the wedding.

When Everybody, Everywear announced that they would be running a special thrifted edition of EBEW I knew exactly what outfit I wanted to wear. I mentioned in my What They Wore post about Colored Pants that I finally snagged a pair of my own at the thrift store. This search was a long time coming. I’ve been looking for a pair of colored denim for over six months now.

I was so happy when I found this fuchsia pair on sale for only $1!  Not only was it a fun color, it was in a size I am able to currently wear without any trouble. Yeah!!!

I knew I wanted to keep the pants the main focus of the outfit; so I wore a loose, gray sweater and black wedges.

Oh, what a day! It started out beautifully. Lyla slept until 7:30, came into my room, and slept another 45 min. However, I think the trick to that blissful arrangement is the absence of nap time. I’m not sure if I like that idea or not, but I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing time spent alone in bed. To my surprise that was followed by a day spent with a happy kiddo. After making it to a late lunch with not a meltdown in sight, I decided to test out the rest of the day without a nap again. It seemed to work pretty well. The only issue I had at all was a mishap upon leaving Grammy’s while we were entering the biggest storm of the season.

This is what I chose to wear on a day I felt like absolute crap. This was the day after recital, and I didn’t go to bed until sometime after 2am. That, my friends, is way too late for me. I’m an old married person (with kids to boot), and don’t get invited out often. My body is sorely out of practice for such activity.

Anyway, I wanted to look a thousand times better than I felt. This blazer paired with the wedges did just the trick. Do you dress up too feel better about how you feel? Is there a particular piece in your closet that when you put it on you feel a million times better. I guess it is a take on the fashion directive about dressing for the job you want, and not the job you have. The Scoop
